This guesthouse-like hotel is located several km away from Ubud centre, but I chose here for my quiet day off.
The room was huge but rusty and slightly musty. We were especially not satisfied by the bathroom.
Because the bathtub was too stained to bathe in, we couldn't help but taking shower only. However, the water was so weak and it wasn't hot enough. It wasn't cold but definitely not hot either. In addition, the floor got wet without a shower curtain. My foot also got wet on every time I washed my hands or face or brushed teeth because the sink was leaking.
Our bathroom is located just above the guesthouse's kitchen fan. So it was full of cooking smells in the morning and the evening. It was unpleasant.
Geckos, mosquito and other insects in the room were acceptable but rats were NOT. This was especially uncomfortable when we knew we were located just above the kitchen. I wish if they were of rice paddy in front of us...
(note; The Chinese don't distinguish mice and rat, but consider where they lives. The rats in house are called "Lao shu" and considered dirty while the one from rice fields is called "Tian shu" and considered clean. The "Tian shu"s are even edible!)
I also felt the plastic roof above and under the balcony must be replaced by another material, because it's so ugly, and it's terribly noisy when it rains. Also, it would be much nicer if the balcony's handrail was wooden, instead of tasteless metal and wire.
Probably due to the isolated location and perhaps of bad reputations on the internet review, we didn't see many foreign visitors. Instead of, what we met were local families who have their own vehicles. Most of them were, I'm sorry to say, very noisy. One family turned on their TV at 5:00am before their early departure. The other family also arrived at the the midnight and started happy-chatty gathering. Most of them stayed a single night, so that one left and one another arrived, every day.
Every night went on like this so we couldn't sleep very well during our stay here for four nights. This is especially sad when you chose your accommodation for the quietness rather than the location. We failed both.
One thing I have to mention that is that the quality of staff, including the contract drivers, was very good. They were well-educated, polite enough and yet friendly. I was totally satisfied by them.
